In Maria do Ingá, the production design constructs space as territory and memory through a scenographic device that dialogues with theater and installation art. Maria’s house, the Colonel’s farm, and the roads reveal an intimate relationship between social landscape and cinematic artifice, inviting the viewer to a gaze in which space unfolds in its sensitive and symbolic dimension, through an aesthetic where the fantastic gleams. The production design thus affirms cinema’s power as a magical construction of worlds.
